Eat
I’ve given up trying to be beautiful. I’ve tried on all sorts of labels and all sorts of alternative lifestyles from being a vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, raw food-ist, vegetarian, GMO-free granola munching free spirit to a suit-wearing, fast food eating business woman. And as fun as these dress-up games have been, I just realized that I have been no different from the “fake” women of southern California that I’ve been mocking all these years.
Whether it is a new Prada purse or a new power juicer, a new nose or a new yoga mat — I’ve been playing the exact same game of making my self feel beautiful by buying stuff. This inner beauty thing has to go a lot deeper than even a super hot yoga body, I can’t just stop here.
So I dug deep, and in my meditations, I found some clarity: It is about loving myself as I love my sister. My mother, my father. Loving myself as much as I love my friends, family. Thats it. Its about valuing myself as a human being deserving of the love that this planet earth provides us freely. I am part of nature and I am as beautiful as a little daisy on the side of the road, without trying to be beautiful – I already am. Thats it. And my body deserves to be fueled by high quality nourishment. Just like that little daisy deserves proper soil, sunlight, and rain to thrive.
